Jerry Jones Dallas Cowboys

The past 20-plus years haven’t been ideal for the Dallas Cowboys, and it’s tough to ignore at this point. Whether fans want to blame Jerry Jones or others, the simple fact of the matter is that Jones has been the one constant in the organization.

For the Cowboys to be the team they’re looking to be, many believe they need a new face if he decides to sell the team.

Even then, however, it’s more likely that one of the family members will continue to take over for the Cowboys. Their philosophies may be changed, but there will still be a Jones running the show.

Regardless, fans are upset, and rightfully so.

That even includes former players, including all-time great Troy Aikman. Aikman spoke with Rich Eisen on The “Rich Eisen Show” on Tuesday, having things to say about Jones and what the Cowboys are doing.

“I saw Jerry talk about the fact that having the Cowboys as a discussion point is meaningful to him. And if people aren’t talking about the Cowboys, then he’ll do things to stir it up. So he kind of walked into that and has given the impression that that supersedes winning,”Aikman said.

Does Jerry Jones Want to Win a Super Bowl?

Jones certainly wants to stir things up, whether he wants to admit that or not, for the Dallas Cowboys, but the truth is the truth.

If he believes that he’s right in a situation, he isn’t going to stop until he gets exactly what he wants. That was most recently seen by the Micah Parsons situation.

However, others believe that Jones doesn’t want to win with the Cowboys, which Aikman doesn’t think is the case.

Of course, some of his previous moves haven’t suggested that, but it’s good to hear such a prominent figure in the Cowboys’ history suggest that Jones still wants to win. That’s still the end goal for this organization.

“In some ways, I’m sure Jerry and the Jones family and everyone is tired of the fact that they haven’t been to a championship game, let alone a Super Bowl, in 30 years. So, then when you deflect that, then essentially the valuation of your franchise or the attention and the exposure, or the drama. Or, as Jerry said, the fact that the Cowboys are a soap opera 365 days a year, that then becomes the scoreboard instead of winning and losing on the field.

“Do I think that winning is not important to Jerry Jones? Not at all. I think Jerry wants to win more than anything else, and I think he’s very exhausted of the fact that this team, although they’ve won a lot of regular season games, they’ve only won four playoff games. That’s hard to stomach.”

Reason for Optimism for the Cowboys?

There will be a lot of eyes on the Dallas Cowboys this year.

Just like every season, Cowboys fans expect them to have great showings. It hasn’t been ideal in past seasons, but with Dak Prescott healthy, a hopefully improved defense, despite losing Parsons, and some new weapons, who knows what the Cowboys might be?
