'I could have cried': Neil Warnock felt so sorry for Eddie Howe after what happened earlier…

· 4 September 2025, 20:30

**Newcastle United are winless so far this season as Eddie Howe's men have struggled to find the goals needed to win games.**

Two draws and a defeat is how Newcastle's record currently stands after three games, but there's a general belief that Newcastle deserve to have at least seven, but more likely nine points on the board after their opening games.

The Magpies were poor last time out against Leeds United, and a draw was probably the fairest result from one of the most infuriatingly boring matches we've seen in a long time, although had Newcastle had a striker on the pitch, there's a good chance they'd have nicked a goal and won.

The lack of a goal scorer was the big problem during the season opener against Aston Villa, too, as Newcastle dominated over a lacklustre Villa side, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.

Newcastle were stunned to come away with nothing after battering Liverpool

The worst result came at St James' Park, however, when the current Premier League champions came to town.

Again, Newcastle were by far the dominant force, but Liverpool hit us on the counter and had the personnel to get them goals. Newcastle did manage to claw two goals back in that game, however, and another draw was looking likely, until youngster Rio Ngumoha popped up with a 100th-minute winner.

Former Premier League boss Neil Warnock told TalkSPORT that he could have cried for Eddie Howe at that point.

How does Warnock think we felt?

-------------------------------

The ex-Middlesbrough boss was gutted to see Newcastle come away from that game with nothing.

> “How they beat Newcastle I will never know. To come up with a goal like that at the end. I could have cried for Eddie Howe that day, because they didn’t deserve to beat them."

Imagine how we all felt, Neil! It hurt even more because of who it was, but that's football. We move on, and we will have our revenge in this season or the next.
