Manchester United star rejected chance of Cristiano Ronaldo reunion this summer, reason revealed

Manchester United star Casemiro turned down the opportunity to reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr this summer.

Multiple Saudi Pro League clubs were interested in the services of Casemiro over the course of the summer. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr even made a move to sign the Manchester United midfielder. But, according to a report from GOAL, the Brazilian international turned down the opportunity to reunite with the Portuguese international.

After winning it all at Real Madrid, Casemiro made the move to United in the summer of 2022. The Red Devils forked out a significant fee to sign the 33-year-old. While he went on to have an exceptional debut campaign, the Brazilian did go through a lean patch post that.

He struggled to cement his spot in the team midway through last season, which sparked plenty of speculation about his future. However, Casemiro worked his way back into Ruben Amorim’s plans and, by the end of the campaign, had reclaimed his place.

But, with him entering the final year of his contract, multiple top clubs were interested in his services. Saudi Arabian clubs were keen on adding him to their star-studded squads. Reports suggested United could cash in on him to recoup a part of what they had invested and make room on their wage bill.

However, they were not really pushing to sell the 33-year-old as he remained a key part of Amorim’s plans. Al-Nassr knocked on his door, and the Saudi giants were willing to offer him a lucrative deal. He once again had the opportunity to reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo, a player with whom he has enjoyed a lot of success.

Casemiro turned down Al-Nassr move

However, Casemiro turned down the opportunity as he is very happy at Old Trafford. More importantly, he rejected the lucrative deal as he wants to have the best chance of representing Brazil at the World Cup next summer.

With his former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti taking charge of the Brazil squad, the 33-year-old is back in the mix. He is a trusted man of the Italian manager and is keen on doing his best for the national team at the world stage one final time.

To boost his chances of making the trip to North America in peak condition, he turned down an offer from the Middle East. For now, his focus is on giving his best for Ruben Amorim’s United. However, he could reconsider a move to Saudi Arabia once his contract at Old Trafford expires next summer, after the World Cup.
