Club now want to sign £27m Arsenal star, offer made for player

Arsenal had a productive summer transfer window with eight signings.

The Gunners spent more than £250 million to add more quality to the first-team squad.

In comparison, they struggled to permanently offload players.

Jakub Kiwior, Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko all left on loan on Monday.

Porto have an obligation to buy Kiwior next summer, but Brentford and Hamburg only have optional buy clauses attached to the loan contracts of Nelson and Vieira respectively.

Arsenal did manage to secure £10m from Albert Sambi Lokonga’s move to Hamburg, but the club would have ideally preferred to recoup more from other departures.

Turkish outlet Sozcu today claim that Besiktas have tabled a £19m bid for Trossard.

Talks are expected to continue, and an answer is anticipated from the Gunners soon.

Trossard was rewarded with a pay rise by the club this summer, but he has been an unused substitute in two of the opening three Premier League games this season.

Arsenal unlikely to part ways with Trossard

The Belgium international has been a key player for the Gunners since he arrived from Brighton & Hove Albion for £27m.

He has been one of the best signings in the club’s history, considering his goal contributions in relation to his playing time.

Trossard, described as a ‘little magician‘ by manager Mikel Arteta, has bagged 28 goals and 21 assists from 125 appearances.

He has had a goal involvement every 133 minutes.

That is quite impressive for a player who has been in and out of the starting line-up for most of his Arsenal career.

The Gunners recently rewarded him with an improved salary, but did not necessarily extend his contract (June 2027).

This is a clear indication that Arsenal value him highly. Arteta personally said that Trossard deserves the recognition.

Keeping this in mind, it is very unlikely that the Gunners will contemplate his departure during the ongoing season.

Trossard will enter the final year of his deal next summer. That is when Arsenal are likely to consider parting ways.
