Barcelona may have a big injury problem to worry about in the first international break of the season as Lamine Yamal seems to have picked up a back issue during Spain’s World Cup Qualifier against Bulgaria on Thursday.
Yamal, who started the match and provided an assist to Mikel Merino’s third goal just before halftime, was substituted in the 78th minute by coach Luis de la Fuente and was replaced by Jesús Rodríguez.
Lamine, who almost always plays all 90 minutes for the national team, was seen on the broadcast massaging his lower back multiple times and used the word “_espalda_” — Spanish for back — when talking to a teammate as he left the pitch.
De La Fuente will certainly be asked about Yamal’s status after the game and we could get some sort of update on his condition, but for now there is at least some reason to be worried about the fitness of Barça’s teenage superstar.
