Jordan Love and the Packers are hyped for Micah Parsons' impending debut with the team
The Green Bay Packers are riding high as they head into Week 1 of the 2025 season. After acquiring Micah Parsons in a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Cowboys, the Packers have emerged as one of the top contenders in the NFC. Ahead of their season-opener, star quarterback Jordan Love sent a strong message regarding the team’s newest player.
Prior to the arrival of Parsons, Love’s solid two-season stint as the Packers’ starting quarterback was the biggest reason for hope surrounding the team. Now, with these two guys leading what was already a solid roster, Green Bay has quickly emerged as a candidate to win the NFC North and potentially go on a deep playoff run later this year.
Jordan Love’s Micah Parsons Message to Packers
#Packers QB Jordan Love on how Sunday’s intro at Lambeau Field should go for Micah Parsons vs. the #Lions:
“They gotta do defense. Micah last. Crowd’s gonna go crazy. … Defense goes out there first. Get a three-and-out. Micah gets a sack on third down. I already see it.”

Parsons is a player worth getting excited about. In his first four seasons in the NFL, the former Penn State Nittany Lions product racked up 52.5 sacks, four Pro Bowl and two All-Pro First selections, and the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. If there’s a non-quarterback who’s worth a four-year, $186 million contract extension, it’s Parsons.
On the other side of the ball, Love has provided quite a few reasons to be optimistic as well. Despite missing a pair of games and battling an ankle injury for much of the year, Love still threw for 3,389 yards and 25 touchdowns last year, leading the Packers to the postseason for the second straight season. However, they bowed out in the wild card round after losing to the eventual champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.
With Love leading the offense and Parsons leading the defense, Green Bay suddenly looks like a very scary team. For their Week 1 clash against the Detroit Lions, which will take place in the friendly confines of Lambeau Field, Love wants Parsons to be the last player introduced, as he believes it will get the crowd even more fired up for the game than they already are.
“They gotta do defense,” Love said when asked which unit should be introduced last. “Micah last. Crowd’s gonna go crazy. I already see it. Defense goes out there first. Get a three-and-out. Micah gets a sack on third down. I already see it.”
Packers Suddenly Have Huge Expectations for 2025 Campaign

In the blink of an eye, the tenor of the Packers’ season has changed, although that’s typically what happens when you acquire a player of Parsons’ caliber. The expectation was that Green Bay would take a step forward in 2025, but with the superstar linebacker in tow, the team profiles as a legitimate Super Bowl contender ahead of the new campaign.
Of course, Parsons actually needs to suit up in order for Love’s plan to come to fruition, as he’s dealing with a back injury ahead of this game. All signs point to Parsons playing, though, which will give Green Bay a great shot at starting the season off on the right foot. The Packers divisional clash with the Lions is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
