Josh Allen tears up talking about wife in new interview: ‘So proud of her’

Josh Allen may be the NFL’s MVP, but in his marriage to actress Haliee Steinfeld, he’s OK with being second best.

In the final episode of HBO Max’s “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with Buffalo Bills”, which was released on Tuesday, Allen was asked to grade the movie “Sinners,” in which Steinfeld starred.

“A+,” he told NFL correspondent Kyle Brandt, who shared a clip of their discussion to X on Wednesday. He captioned it, “The happiest and most candid I have ever seen Josh Allen.”

When asked to elaborate on why “Sinners” was a perfect movie for him, Allen said, “Because it combines a lot of different aspects of life. My wife absolutely kills it, and hopefully, award season coming around, people make the right decision.”

Brandt agreed, praising the Oscar-nominated actress’s performance. “I left the movie theater and thought ‘the NFL MVP is the second most talented person in his own marriage.’ Is that a crazy hot take?”

Allen was not at all offended by Brandt’s question and appeared equally amazed by his wife’s talent. “Absolutely not. 1000 percent,” he said, as tears welled up in his eyes. “And I’m OK with it.”

Allen continued to applaud Steinfeld, revealing he also shed some tears when watching the film. “When we watched it at the premiere, I was crying at the end. I was just so proud of her. I get emotional thinking about it,” he said.

“Sinners,” a horror film set in 1932 Mississippi, follows twin brothers, Elijah and Elias (both played by Michael B. Jordan), who return to their hometown to open a juke joint, but must battle a vampire threat. Steinfeld played Elias’s girlfriend Mary in the film, which premiered in April.

A month after the movie’s release, Allen and Steinfeld tied the knot after getting engaged last November. The two began dating in May 2023.

All five episodes of “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with Buffalo Bills” are currently streaming on HBO Max. This is the first time the Bills have ever appeared on the show. The documentary-style series follows their journey through training camp and gives fans a closer look at players’ personal lives.
