Terry McLaurin's summer-long contract battle with the Washington Commanders took every drastic turn imaginable. The wide receiver wanted an extension, and general manager Adam Peters wasn't willing to bow to his demands. But as is typically the case, unless you're the Dallas Cowboys, everything worked out well in the end.
McLaurin got his money. The Commanders got a deal that provides them with flexibility if the wideout's performance levels regress. More importantly, it got the second-team All-Pro back onto the practice field in good time before Week 1 against the New York Giants.
And the first two injury reports throughout the week confirmed what every fan already knew about McLaurin's supposed ankle concern.
Terry McLaurin's ankle problem magically healed after Commanders contract extension
There has been no sign of McLaurin on the injury report. Head coach Dan Quinn revealed that the wideout is getting his typical workload. This suggests that his lack of participation at training camp was a hold-in situation rather than any lingering doubts around his ankle.
Regardless, that's all in the past. McLaurin is looking forward to the future, and he's clearly thrilled about being back with his teammates and finally focusing on the football side of things once again.
"Obviously, the business side of football has to be taken care of, and that's done now, so I can just focus on football. It's been great practicing the last few days. I'm in great shape. I'm feeling really good. The great thing about it is I'm working with Jayden [Daniels] again this year, which is great for me, and being in the same offense. Nothing has been new, so it's just about honing in on the game plan for this week and fine-tuning the details for that. But I'm just excited to be back out there on the field and playing football."

Nobody was entirely convinced that McLaurin's ankle injury was legitimate. It protected the player's money while negotiations around his extension continued. But once everything got rubber-stamped, it was no surprise to see this issue magically heal.
There is no greater healer than money. None.
McLaurin missed a lot of football over the summer. As the player stated, having the same quarterback and the same offensive scheme smoothed his transition into the fold once again. He was also professional enough to stay in supreme physical conditioning until the moment his big return arrived.
All signs are trending towards McLaurin being a focal point versus a talented Giants defense. Whether he'll be on a snap count or not is debatable, but the most important thing is that he'll be ready to contribute in some capacity.
And as expected, the ankle problem is now a distant memory.
