'He needs to'... Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink urges Ruben Amorim to play Man United man who hasn't started all season

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has warned Benjamin Sesko of what he needs to do at Manchester United to change his fortunes after a difficult start to life at Old Trafford.

Sesko joined Manchester United during the summer transfer window for £75million, which has instantly put a weight on his shoulders due to the expectations of that price tag.

The 22-year-old was one of several names who joined Ruben Amorim’s side during the summer, as the Red Devils overhauled the squad in a bid to put last season behind them.

Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha also joined Manchester United, but Sesko has found life at Old Trafford the hardest.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink tells Benjamin Sesko to ‘get ready’

Sesko has struggled for full match fitness since arriving in the Premier League, which has been reflected by the fact he’s yet to start a game for the 20-time champions.

Hasselbaink spoke to Sky Sports News about the £75million man and warned the striker that he must prepare himself rather than rely on everyone else.

"Get some confidence in the team and get Sesko scoring" 💬

“Man United need to win games, and they need their best players on the pitch. If you’re spending £75million on a player, he needs to be ready; he needs to play.

“Well, he needs to get ready really quickly, especially when you’re not winning, especially if others are not doing it. Against Grimsby, I was a little bit disappointed.

“You would have thought Amorim would have put his strongest team down with all the stars in the team against Grimsby and get some momentum going, get a win.

“It doesn’t matter how; get some confidence in the team, get Sesko scoring. Even though he’s physically not yet there, get him scoring.”

Grimsby knocked Manchester United out of the EFL Cup after scraping back from two goals down, only to be defeated in a penalty shootout.

Gabby Agbonglahor branded Sesko a “coward” after that game because he was the last outfield player to step up to take a penalty, which also raised alarm bells for fans.

Benjamin Sesko has made an underwhelming start at Manchester United

Despite the money paid for him, Sesko has had a tough start at Manchester United, having yet to be handed a start by Amorim.

While he scored during the penalty shootout against Grimsby, Sesko has yet to score for Manchester United in open play.

His performances haven’t been the only disappointing ones at the club so far. Amorim’s team has struggled in the first three Premier League games and were humiliated by Grimsby.

However, due to Manchester United’s size, Sesko will not be spared the pressure, which is why it’s imperative he finds the back of the net sooner rather than later.
