Cowboys vs. Eagles live score, updates, highlights from 2025 NFL Thursday night football game

JUMP TO:

Welcome back, NFL.

Nearly seven months since the conclusion of the 2024 season, when the Eagles dominated the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, the league is officially back in action Thursday night -- and as is tradition, those same Eagles will host the NFL's 2025 kickoff game.

Traveling to Philadelphia for a rivalry matchup are the Cowboys, who are fresh off a dramatic preseason that saw them trade away star pass rusher Micah Parsons last week. While the Eagles are seeking to rekindle last season's magic led by superstar running back Saquon Barkley and reigning Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts, Dallas comes into Week 1 carrying major questions, including a return from injury for quarterback Dak Prescott.

The last time an NFC East team repeated as the division winner was the Eagles in 2003 and 2004. Could Philadelphia do the same this season? How will the Nick Sirianni's offense change following another coordinator swap? And for Dallas, how will the defense look post-Parsons? Will the return of Prescott, plus the additions of head coach Brian Schottenheimer and WR George Pickens, be enough for the Cowboys to contend?

The first opportunity to answer those questions, and catch real NFL action, arrives Thursday. Who will win the first game of the new season?

The Sporting News is tracking live updates and highlights as the Eagles host the Cowboys in the NFL's 2025 kickoff game. Follow along with the action below.

5:21 p.m. — Dak Prescott, making his return from an injury tonight, appeared to be signing along to an Eagles-themed tune as he arrived at Lincoln Financial Field:

5:18 p.m. — Tonight is banner night for the Eagles, although Nick Sirianni said earlier this week that he wasn't aware of that and his team won't be out on the field for the celebration. Whether that holds true remains to be seen, but Philadelphia is clearly trying to keep its eyes focused on the new season.

#Eagles HC Nick Sirianni says he didn’t know Thursday night is banner night — and he and the players won’t be out there for it.

They’re on to 2025. Super Bowl win is in the past.
