Star Jets WR says he hasn’t talked to Aaron Rodgers since New York exit: ‘Wish him the best’

Star New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson says he has not talked with Aaron Rodgers since he was released by the team in March.

Rodgers and Wilson notably had a bit of a tenuous relationship with one another, but Wilson says he wishes Rodgers the best with the Pittsburgh Steelers and moving forward.

“I ain’t talked to Aaron since he left,” Wilson said. “I wish him the best to start the season. But we haven’t chopped it up since he left.”

That being said, Wilson notes there were lessons he learned from playing with a future Hall of Fame quarterback. Rodgers always noted that Wilson was attentive and willing to learn from him, something that Wilson wanted to do in his presence.

“I got the opportunity to play with a living legend in this game,” Wilson said. “Every day, I got to learn something. I tried to go about it the right way and always make sure I was being a sponge. I can’t even -- it’s hard to put into words exactly what I took away from those experiences. Sitting next to him and hearing the way he talks about ball, I learned a lot as far as the way things went.”

Rodgers never disclosed who he still talked to on the Jets, but that he had a ton of friends and people he wishes well on his old team.

Going into the stadium on Sunday, the Steelers and Jets are both treating it like a normal game rather than the revenge contest it could turn into.
