On Thursday night, the Philadelphia Eagles kicked off the 2025 NFL season with a matchup against their longtime rival in the Dallas Cowboys. Things did not start out in their favor, as a key player was forced to exit in the opening minute.
When it comes to the Eagles' defense, Jalen Carter has emerged as a foundational piece. However, his third season has begun with a bumpy start.
The game started off with the Eagles kicking off to the Cowboys. Following the return, play was stopped so Philadelphia's training staff could address an injured player. Then, before Dallas could even run their first play, pandemonium ensued.
Jalen Carter ejected in opening minute vs. Cowboys
In the midst of the injured Eagles player getting off the field, Jalen Carter and Dak Prescott exchange some trash talk. The young defensive lineman must have heard something he didn't like, and let the Cowboys QB know it.
After exchanging some verbal jabs, Carter can be seen spitting on Prescott. This resulted in him being ejected from the game in the opening minute.
As one of their top talents on that side of the ball, losing Carter this early in the game is a huge blow for the Eagles. Prescott didn't seemed fazed by the altercation, as he was able to lead the Cowboys down the field for a score on their opening drive.
Now, the Eagles' defense will attempt to bounce back without one of its core pieces.
