PHILADELPHIA —Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was kicked out of Thursday’s night game against the Dallas Cowboys before the first snap.
Carter was captured on the broadcast spitting in quarterback Dak Prescott’s face, which drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and an ejection.
Carter’s poor decision-making could hurt the Eagles’ defense. He is one of the best defensive players in the NFL, wrecking games on a consistent basis.
Philadelphia’s defensive line will struggle to generate pressure without Carter.
The Cowboys scored a touchdown on the first drive. A 32-yard catch from wide receiver CeeDee Lamb moved Dallas to Philadelphia’s one-yard line. Two plays later, Cowboys running back Javonte Williams crossed the end zone.
Carter needs to learn how to control his temper. It has been a problem throughout this career. Immaturity could hinder his potential.
Eagles fans and media pundits are not happy with Carter.
“Legitimately cannot wrap my head around this from Jalen Carter,” an Eagles fan wrote on X. “There’s not even an argument to be made here. Clear as day he spit on him. Won’t be shocked in the slightest if he gets suspended. Absolutely insane & disappointing move. WTF.”
“Jalen Carter are you (expletive) serious bruh!!” ESPN analyst Ryan Clark said on X. " That’s some disrespectful, disgusting stuff man… and the lineman supposed to jump him!
“Wanna know why Jalen Carter fell to the ninth pick?” NFL insider Albert Breer wrote on X.
“To hell with just an ejection. Suspend that man,” Stephen A Smith said. “How in the HELL could you do something like that? Inexcusable! Stupid! Selfish! #Damn!”
What’s next for Carter?
He could be suspended for next week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Best case scenario, the All-Pro DT will receive a huge fine.
