LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - On Thursday, the NFL kicked off the 2025 season with the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Just in general, the fact that football is here, just baseball is great, but we’re ready for some football absolutely,” said football fan Tim Robinson.
For many football fans, this means a reset for their favorite football teams and a new season of sports betting.

“My buddies and I almost every Saturday and every Sunday, we put a parlay in together. Usually, doesn’t hit, but it’s fun to watch and to keep up with,” football fan Cole Saunders said.
But fans like Robinson said he leaves the sports betting to his friends because not everyone’s a winner.
“My experiences have not been great. I’m not great at doing parlays. I make good on the base bet, but when I try to do the parlays, that’s where I end up losing,” Robinson said.
President of the Kentucky Council on Problem Gambling, Dr. RonSonlyn Clark, said the risk may be worth your winnings, but it can turn irresponsible quickly.
“When the fun is no longer there, when you’re betting money that is for rent or groceries or college tuition, then you’re getting into trouble,” said.
Dr. Clark said if you become consumed by your sports betting results and placing more bets, it may be time to reach out for help.
“Bet what you can afford to lose and have a good time,” Dr. Clark said.
