PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Fans pumped up the volume outside Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday night ahead of the NFL season opener, with the popular chant heard across Philadelphia and beyond: E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!
"My family is at home. They know better. They would rather me come here by myself, and it's all my friends," said Joe Hooven from Magnolia, N.J. "I've been doing this since 1996, and I'm going to keep doing it until I can."
The Eagles are up against their rivals - the Cowboys.
But the division did not keep one couple apart.
"We were married 11 years yesterday," said Kate Briggs from Wilmington, Delaware.
Briggs soars with the Eagles while her husband, Tim, cheers on the Cowboys.
"I'm not one of those fans that really get into the hate and all that stuff like that. I just enjoy football," said Tim.

As Eagles fans sang their favorite songs, flags throughout the parking lots proudly flapped in the wind.
"A good 'God bless' and 'Go Birds.' That's what it's all about out here," said Andrew Weight from Haddon Township, N.J.
Down below, there were some friendly competitions while grills were sizzling.
"I'm feelin' good. Let's go Birds," said Bartae from Bridgeton, N.J. "I got some jerk chicken with some regular chicken."
"We've got the hotdog cooker going, so hotdogs are hot and ready. The beer is cold. Everything is perfect," said Matthew Fleming from Haddon Heights.
But the Bird Gang is even hungrier for a season of victories:
"We're about to hang this banner. We're about to do a two-peat," said Shalonda from Freehold, N.J.
"I've been waiting since the Super Bowl win," said Pamela Burch from Sicklerville, N.J. "We're going to win it again, guys!"
