Eagles suffer another blow as key starter leaves game in fourth quarter vs. Cowboys

PHILADELPHIA —Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson left Thursday’s night game against the Dallas Cowboys during the fourth quarter and was assisted to the locker room by a trainer.

Dickerson has been ruled questionable to return with a back injury. He missed Monday’s practice with the same designation.

At the beginning of last month, Dickerson also received knee surgery, which could still be hindering him. He wasn’t expected to be fully healthy for Week 1 and hasn’t looked it. Cowboys edge rusher James Houston beat him to the inside on the last drive for a tackle for loss on running back Saquon Barkley.

Eagles backup guard Brett Toth has replaced Dickerson.

On the opening kick off, fullback Ben VanSumeren suffered a knee injury and was carted to the locker room. Backup running back Will Shipley later suffered a ribs injury and hasn’t returned. Defensive tackle Jalen Carter was ejected before the first snap for spitting on quarterback Dak Prescott.
