Keep or sell? Seven Brighton players out of contract next summer

When the Premier League resumes in just over a week, Albion's players will do their utmost to convince head coach Fabian Hurzeler that they deserve to start or merit more game time.

And those in the last year of their contracts will be acutely aware of this. So, who could be a free agent next summer?

Lewis Dunk

The Albion legend is fast approaching 500 games for the club, and at present, he is starting alongside Jan Paul van Hecke in their defensive line.

His current terms expire next year, but it seems very unlikely that the England international will not get a new deal, particularly as he is only 33.

The centre-back may not be as consistent week in, week out, and injuries are never too far away, but his race is not run.

Danny Welbeck

Another veteran of the game, Welbeck has proven to be an excellent acquisition following his capture in late 2020 as a free agent.

A return of 37 goals over five seasons is not to be sniffed at. Plus, the 34-year-old had his best-ever Premier League season last term with 10 goals in 30 games.

While he is yet to get off the mark this campaign, keeping him around may be a shrewd move. Although Manchester United may try and sign him again...

Solly March

Much like Dunk, March has practically spent the entirety of his career at Albion. However, his injuries have stacked up in recent years.

The 31-year-old is in the last year of his deal but there is an option to extend that another 12 months. If the winger continues to be out injured, the club will have a big decision on their hands.

He certainly has credit in the bank, though.

Adam Webster

The 30-year-old suffered the worst possible start to his pre-season when he sustained a knee ligament injury in July.

The defender is currently recovering from his surgery but Hurzeler did admit Webster will miss a "large part of the season".

That may not leave him enough time to earn a fresh deal. Plus, with the club signing centre-backs Diego Coppola, 21, and Olivier Boscagli, 27, this summer, they have more strength in depth in that area.

James Milner

After an injury-hit 2024/25 season, many would have thought that the 39-year-old was over the hill.

But the midfielder rolled back the years in Albion's 6-0 Carabao Cup win over Oxford United and 2-1 victory against Manchester City, a game he scored in.

If Milner can stay injury-free, the ex-Liverpool man may be given a chance to play into his 40s.

Joel Veltman

The Dutchman, 33, has a case for being one of Albion's best signings of the 21st century.

Recruited for under £1 million, the versatile defender rarely puts a foot wrong for the south coast team.

Veltman admitted he will "leave his options open" after extending his deal until 2026 but if he continues to excel, Albion won't want to lose him.

Jason Steele

Arguably, Albion's most unselfish player. One could argue that the 35-year-old epitomises the famous Rudyard Kipling line, 'If you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat these two imposters just the same'.

The ex-Sunderland man looked sharp in goal against Oxford and is a good backup to Bart Verbruggen. Having his wise head around makes a lot of sense.

So, who would you keep and who would you let go?
