**Arsenal have announced that WSL golden boot winner Alessia Russo has signed a new long-term contract with the north London club.**

Russo, who joined the [Gunners](https://thehalfwayline.com/category/womens-super-league/arsenal/) in the summer of 2023, has scored 36 goals across 72 appearances during her time at the club. A successful 2024/25 campaign saw Russo claim the Women’s Super League golden boot, scoring 12 goals, as well as a place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League team of the year for her integral role in Arsenal’s European victory. The tremendous campaign saw Russo shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or.

The 26-year-old starred for Sarina Wiegman’s England side over the summer, scoring the equaliser in the Women’s Euros final to help the Lionesses bring football home again.

“Arsenal feels like home,” Russo said after signing her new deal. “This is such a special club and it has felt that way to me from the moment I joined two years ago. Playing for Arsenal is an honour and has pushed me to develop and grow as a player, and I feel empowered with this badge on my chest.”

The striker will be back in action this Saturday September 6 as Arsenal host London City Lionesses on the opening day of the WSL.
