**Brazil haven't had the best of times in the World Cup qualifiers so far, but Bruno Guimaraes and Co have managed to get themselves up into second place in their group table.**
The Newcastle United captain was a key figure as Brazil beat Chile 3-0 in the early hours of this morning.
Bruno Guimaraes carried his club form over to his National side and even bagged another goal, adding to the one he got against Liverpool.
It was only his second goal for Brazil, adding the finishing touches after Estevao and Lucas Paqueta got the ball rolling. It'll not go down as the most impressive goal of his career, bundling it over the line from point-blank range, but they all count.
**Globo Esporte gave Bruno Guimaraes a score of 8/10**

Brazilian outlet [Globo Esporte](https://ge.globo.com/futebol/selecao-brasileira/noticia/2025/09/04/atuacoes-da-selecao-bruno-guimaraes-e-luiz-henrique-sao-os-melhores-em-vitoria-de-suas-notas.ghtml) were highly impressed with Bruno's output, giving the Newcastle man a score of 8/10, calling it a 'textbook performance.
> “A textbook performance for a dynamic midfielder with a strong presence in the final third and a strong presence in the defensive midfield.
>
> “He had a good first half but seemed subdued compared to his second-half performance. He tackled, built plays, set up teammates, and scored. He twice set up Martinelli in excellent position to finish, linked up with Luiz Henrique for the third, and was the team’s driving force.”
Brazil have their place in next year's World Cup already booked
---------------------------------------------------------------
Brazil have already qualified for the World Cup, but will want to close the 10-point gap on Argentina, who currently top the group.
The top six teams in the group of 10 qualify for a place in next year's competition, and the Brazilians have that sewn up already.
Also in action last night was Newcastle's new boy Nick Woltemade, who struck the bar as Germany were beaten 2-0 by Martin Dubravka's Slovakia.
