**Man United manager Marc Skinner says fans will fall in love with Jess Park amidst the fury of Grace Clinton’s departure.**
United and Manchester City performed a deadline day swap deal as the Red Devils received a transfer fee and Jess Park’s signature to compensate for Clinton’s departure.
Clinton, who signed for the club in the summer of 2022, took to social media to announce her departure affirming that “I feel the future of the club and I aren’t on the same page”, adding that “For me personally, the next step is about growth, I want to develop and continue to learn.”
Head coach [Marc Skinner](https://thehalfwayline.com/2025/09/05/marc-skinner-admits-man-united-must-bolster-squad-depth-in-january/) spoke on the news of Clinton’s departure, stating that he doesn’t believe that Clinton’s exit is a failure on the club’s part.
“I want to thank Grace. I think I’m being quite clear in that we as managers can have personal relationships with players and we can see things differently. But for us, I think we’re trying to learn from the past mistakes. If people don’t want to be here, then we have to make sure we find the best solution for Manchester United. Grace has made her decision, that’s what she wants to do.
“So for us, it’s disappointing I’m sure from the fans perspective, but we have to move forward to play the players that want to be 100% of Manchester United, and that wasn’t the case. So we move forward.”
Man United fans will ‘fall in love’ with Jess Park says Skinner
---------------------------------------------------------------
Despite the loss of Clinton, Man United fans will be delighted by the [acquisition of England midfielder Jess Park](https://thehalfwayline.com/category/womens-super-league/manchester-united/).The attacking midfielder made 119 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 22 goals across her tenure.
Speaking to _The Halfway Line_ about Park’s arrival, Skinner believes that the 23-year-old will be a beloved addition to the side.
“What I love most about Jess and I’ve told her this, is that when she picks up the ball, she makes things happen. She can score, she can create. It’s not a fault of Manchester City, but what I think we can get more out of her because I think she’ll be able to finish that product rather than have to maybe lend the pass a little bit more. She’ll be able to dribble, drive, create more for us.
“But, more importantly, I think when you speak to Jess, she’s got this wonderful, rebellious attitude towards – I just want to win. I want to be here, she’s 100%. I think our fans are falling in love with her. I have no doubt she’s incredible talent, and someone I’m looking forward to nurturing even more.
“I have a good record of nurturing young talent, so I want to make sure that I do the same with Jess. We’re looking to bring silverware. So we’ve not just bought a player in, we bought a player in a high level quality that has so much more to do as well.”
