Alejandro Garnacho slammed for his behaviour after Man United exit – 'I can't stand it'

Alejandro Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United in a £40million deal but the Argentine winger was able to do little more than watch on as the Blues beat Fulham this past weekend

Jamie Carragher has slammed one thing he "can't stand" following Alejandro Garnacho's switch from Manchester United to Chelsea.

However, it's got nothing to do with the winger's footballing talent or how his transfer was handled. Rather, it's Garnacho's behaviour since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Following confirmation of his £40million move, the Argentina international made his way to west London but was restricted to watching the Blues' clash with Fulham from the stands.

The 21-year-old penned a seven-year deal with Chelsea, whilst United have negotiated a 10 per cent sell-on clause as part of their agreement. The transfer was completed too late for Garnacho to feature against the Cottagers though.

And barely eight minutes had passed when Garnacho was caught red-handed by television cameras. Sky's footage showed the youngster browsing his mobile phone instead of focusing on the action unfolding before him.

Carragher, alongside Roy Keane, were asked to assess some of the Premier League's most significant summer signings. That incident during the Fulham fixture influenced Carragher's verdict, reports the Mirror.

"You know what I didn't like?" Carragher said. "Did you see the game [against Fulham], when they go to the people in the stands and they are on their phones with the game going on?

"I can't stand it. And it's not just him by the way, but I can't stand it. So it's a miss for that. For sitting on his phone during an important game for Chelsea." Keane offered his thoughts on the transfer and said: "I'm undecided on that one. I'm not convinced."

Garnacho's Chelsea debut could arrive against the Blues' other west London rivals in Brentford following the international break. The former United star will be required to demonstrate his fitness after being separated from Ruben Amorim's first team throughout the summer.

The winger was amongst a group that featured Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony who were forbidden from training alongside their team-mates whilst seeking transfers.

Garnacho is eagerly anticipating integrating with his new squad though. "It's an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can't wait to get started," he said.

"I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we're the best team in the world! It's amazing to be here and I'm very happy." Should Garnacho make his Blues debut at the Gtech Community Stadium on September 13th, it would mark the club's fourth consecutive league match in London.

They finally travel outside of the nation's capital a week later as they take on Manchester United in what will be the winger's first visit back to Old Trafford since leaving.
