Man Utd had several players involved in the latest set of international matches.
Manchester United star Casemiro was fortunate to avoid a red card when he stood on the leg of an opponent during Brazil’s comfortable 3-0 win over Chile in World Cup qualification. The 33-year-old was named in the starting line up as Carlo Ancelotti's side picked up a routine three points at the Maracana in the early hours of Friday morning.
Casemiro looked to have given his side the lead when he headed in from an early free-kick, only for the goal to be disallowed due to an offside. It wasn't long before Brazil finally took the lead though, when Chelsea winger Estevao acrobatically turned the ball over the goal line from close range.
The match boiled over in the closing stages of the first-half when Chile defender Guillermo Maripán was shown a straight red card for a foul on Brazil full-back Wesley França, only for the the decision to be downgraded to a yellow card after a VAR review. On the stroke of half-time, it looked like United midfielder Casemiro would also be given his marching orders, when he stamped on a Chile midfielder Felipe Loyola, but was only shown a yellow card.

Casemiro was eventually replaced after 66 minutes by Andrey Santos before goals from Lucas Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes sealed a comfortable win for the home side. The United midfielder could start again when Brazil travel to face Bolivia in midweek and he is expected to be named in Ruben Amorim's starting line up to face Man City next weekend.
The Brazil international has started all three of United's league matches so far this season and has enjoyed a resurgence under head coach Ruben Amorim. Asked for his ambitions this season, the former Real Madrid star told club media: “To have a great year. To have a great year at the top level, because at the end of the season we have the World Cup.
“So, I want to arrive at the World Cup in good form. I want to enjoy the year, to arrive in top form, and it is the title that I am missing. So, I want to win titles here. We have new signings of top quality that will help us a lot.”
