Leeds United spent most of the summer recruiting for the defence and midfield. The previous season saw a short stretch where some important players got injured but the team did not have enough depth.
This lead to Daniel Farke having to play some players out of position. Leeds addressed that this summer by adding quality to the midfield and attack. Farke asked for steel in midfield, so the club signed Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach. The defence also added Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson.

Despite all this, the team’s spending failed to cover an important position – the attack. Daniel Farke had been calling for reinforcements in that area since pre-season. Leeds only managed to add Lukas Nmecha, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor.

James Justin speaks on Leeds United move

Justin arrived later in the window; he was the club’s 10th signing of the summer. Leeds wanted to let go of Isaac Schmidt, but Daniel Farke asked for a replacement first. When asked about how he felt joining the Whites, Justin said that the move had been coming, and that Leeds had interest in him for a while:
“Definitely. Obviously to join a club of this size and to have the history it has and to be back in the Premier League, it was a massive thing to me. I’m over the moon to have joined.
“It’s been a while since I’ve known of the interest but obviously I was still a Leicester player so I had to give my all for Leicester whilst I was there and that’s something obviously that you can expect from me when I put on a Leeds shirt, to give my all when I am on the pitch.
“For it to have finally happened has taken a weight off my shoulders for sure.”
Player provides solid fullback depth
One of Justin’s best traits is that he can play on the left or right of defence. It is a big part of the reason Daniel Farke asked for him to be signed. Now the club do not need to worry if Jayden Bogle or Gabriel Gudmundsson go down with an injury.
