A veteran midfielder is nearing the end of his Manchester United career, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Despite the overhaul, Man United’s midfield issues remain. A Carabao Cup upset against Grimsby has already put Amorim under pressure, with his preferred 3-4-3 formation exposing weaknesses in the centre of the park.
A deal for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba collapsed late in the summer transfer window, leaving Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes struggling to click as a partnership.
Casemiro stayed put this summer despite interest from Saudi Arabia, but his long-term future looks uncertain. His deal runs until 2026, with an option for an extra year, though Romano believes that could be the point he moves on.
“For 2026, I think there is a concrete chance to see Casemiro leave Man United,” Romano said. “This could be the final season for Casemiro at a high European level, and maybe try something different from 2026.
“This is not something decided, this is not something guaranteed, but from what I’m hearing in the industry, there is a feeling Casemiro might decide to take a different step from 2026.”
