January attempt planned for Newcastle United player – No pause to the drama

Eintracht Frankfurt are planning a January transfer window attempt for Newcastle United striker William Osula after trying at the end of the summer window.

[That’s according to BILD](https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/eintracht-frankfurt-boss-spricht-ueber-geplatzten-osula-wechsel-68b80590c3994d046ae7bafe), who report that the German side haven’t given up their interest in the 22-year-old just yet.

They explain that the fact Frankfurt’s move for the Newcastle forward fell through this summer was neither the fault of the German side or the player. Rather, it was Newcastle’s demands.

They had demanded a loan fee valued at €5m for their man, which would have been a record for Frankfurt. There was also a €20m obligation to buy, which was considered too risky. An option rather than an obligation would have been valued slightly higher.

The two clubs were unable to reach an agreement on deadline day of the transfer window and Frankfurt eventually withdrew from negotiations with Newcastle.

That’s not ended the interest entirely, though, and another move for the Newcastle striker is considered likely at the start of the January transfer window. For now, Eintracht have to wait, and sporting director Timmo Hardung is insistent there was no drama about the failed move.

_“For something like this to go ahead, all the parameters have to be right,”_ he said.

_“We kept an eye on the market. Throughout the day, doors kept opening, and we briefly looked into the cracks and saw where it might lead. In the end, we closed the door._

_“It’s getting wilder and crazier what happens on the last day of the transfer window. But we didn’t wake up in the morning panicking that we still had to sign one, two, three, or four players. And that’s why there was no reason to get into the car in the evening upset.”_
