Fulham are concerned about the future of their manager, Marco Silva, amid interest from rivals Nottingham Forest.
According to a report from Football Insider, Marco Silva appears to be unsettled at Fulham and could be on his way to Nottingham Forest. With Nuno Espirito Santo’s future uncertain, Silva has emerged as a potential replacement for the Midlands outfit.
Nottingham Forest could sack Nuno Espirito Santo
Nuno Espirito Santo has done a phenomenal job at Nottingham Forest, helping them secure a seventh-place finish last season and qualifying for the UEFA Europa League. While the results last season were promising, a lot has changed in recent months, leaving his future up in the air.
The Portuguese manager has had a public fallout with owner Evangelos Marinakis, which certainly does not help his chances of staying at the club. Nuno’s relationship with Marinakis is strained, and on top of that, his ideas do not align with the club’s new recruitment chief, Edu Gasper.
Following disputes with the duo, Nuno Espirito Santo made his thoughts public and even suggested that he was set to hold crunch talks with the club. More importantly, recent results have not been great, putting additional pressure on the former Wolves boss.
Marco Silva could join Nottingham Forest
If Nuno Espirito Santo fails to deliver the desired results after the international break, Nottingham Forest could end up sacking him. Should that happen, Fulham’s Marco Silva is their priority target to replace him.
The 48-year-old has done wonders for the Cottagers over the years, but he seems unhappy at the club and would be open to another Premier League job. Both Nuno Espirito Santo and Silva are represented by Jorge Mendes’s Gestifute agency, which does significant business with Marinakis and his clubs.
As a result, there is a real possibility of Silva replacing his compatriot at Nottingham. With only a year left on his deal and dissatisfaction over Fulham’s summer business, the Tricky Trees have a realistic chance of securing his services.
With Nuno Espirito Santo not on the same page with Marinakis and Edu, a departure certainly seems to be on the cards, and Marco Silva could be just the perfect replacement given what he has done at Fulham.
