2-time Patriots Super Bowl champ lands extension with AFC contender

Ted Karras has landed a new contract with the Bengals ahead of the season.

The former Patriots lineman was set to be a free agent after 2025, but inked a one-year, $5 million extension to stay in Cincinnati through 2026. A four-time team captain with the Bengals, Karras has been a stabilizing force for Joe Burrow in the middle of Cincinnati’s offensive line.

Now 32 years old, Karras began his career with the Patriots in 2016.

A sixth-round pick out of Illinois, Karras spent his first three seasons with New England in a backup role, picking up a pair of Super Bowl rings (2016, 2018), and was the starting center for most of 2019 after David Andrews went down with an injury.

Karras followed Brian Flores to Miami in 2020, then returned to New England in 2021 — starting 13 games at guard — before finding his current home with the Bengals.

Since arriving in Cincinnati, Karras has started 50 of a possible 51 games at center and emerged as an important leader in the Bengals locker room.
