Newcastle United star Anthony Elanga has opened up on how he feels about Alexander Isak's move to Liverpool.
Isak's time as a Newcastle player came to an end on transfer deadline day when he completed a move to Liverpool for a British-record fee worth up to £130 million.
The striker had been determined to complete a move to Merseyside all summer and finally got his wish on the last day of the transfer window.
Following his move to Liverpool, Isak has now linked up with the Sweden national team where he is joined by Elanga. The winger signed for Newcastle from Nottingham Forest earlier this summer in a deal worth £55m and has ended up not making an appearance alongside Isak at club level.
Elanga will have hopes of featuring alongside Isak for Sweden over the next few days and now the Newcastle winger has spoken about his compatriot's exit from St James' Park.
“Isak is a Liverpool player right now," Elanga said in an interview with Fotbollskanalen. "I have the chance to play with him in the national team. He had a good career at Newcastle, but right now he is a Liverpool player. Good luck to him.
“It has been chill. He had a contract with us and right now he is with Liverpool. We all think he is a very good player. We lost a good player, but we also signed good players. Hopefully, we can look forward and focus on this season.
“It’s his choice. He chose Liverpool. Good luck to him. He is a friend to me and a fantastic footballer. I can play with him in the national team and that is good as well.”
