Not just Guehi: Champions League club tried to sign another 'amazing' Crystal Palace star

Crystal Palace star Daniel Munoz has unsurprisingly piqued the interest of some of Europe's best clubs in recent months after some solid performances - and reports have suggested that Inter Milan tried to land him in a summer deal before the player and club turned down a move to Italy.

Palace's squad has picked up massively in the past few years, with the majority of their talents coming from the Championship in the form of Eberechi Eze, Adam Wharton and Michael Olise to name a few. However, they have ventured into foreign markets and landing Munoz has been a stroke of genius - which Inter looked to take advantage of.

The report by Alan Nixon on his Patreon states that Inter were the 'mystery' club who tried to prise Munoz away from Selhurst Park in the summer transfer window, after a superb 18 months in south London.

The Serie A giants attempted and failed to bring the 'amazing' Colombian to the San Siro from the English capital, as they wanted the wing-back star to join them to rival Denzel Dumfries for first-team minutes in Lombardy.

The Champions League finalists made an approach, but were turned down by both Palace and Munoz after a successful campaign from Oliver Glasner's men saw them hoist the FA Cup trophy, their first-ever major honour in the club's 119-year career. Munoz is thought to be settled in the English capital, with Palace only signing him one-and-a-half years ago from Belgian Pro League side Genk.

With a Man of the Match performance at Wembley, as well as 13 assists and six goals in his time at Palace, Munoz has proven to be a real key performer under the Austrian boss and Palace will look to keep him.

The Eagles sold star man Eze to Arsenal earlier in the window, and only a broken down loan move for Brighton star Igor Julio prevented club captain Marc Guehi from following his England teammate out of the door after Liverpool had agreed a £35million fee for his services - and so keeping his star men is crucial for Glasner if he wants them to progress as a side.

Inter are typically an attractive club to join, having been Serie A champions in two of the past five seasons, alongside top four finishes in each campaign since 2016/17, but the Premier League riches and star status in south London has seen Munoz opt to stay.
