Travis Kelce has had a whirlwind few weeks. On August 26, the Kansas City Chiefs star and Taylor Swift jointly announced their engagement, which took place weeks earlier. To do it, Kelce turned his Kansas backyard into a romantic garden that looked like it was straight out of a movie set.
Now, with the Chief's NFL regular season starting tonight in São Paulo, Brazil, his plate is as full as ever. Still, he managed to sneak in a bit of fun at a press conference this week, and it left everyone laughing.
Hear it yourself in this video from September 4:
The Mahomes Impression That Stole the Show
As this video from @NFLonFOX highlighted, Kelce decided to show off a hidden talent to an unsuspecting room.
When reporters asked a routine question about the airport the night before, instead of giving a straight answer, he slipped into a pitch-perfect impression of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He matched his voice and cadence with uncanny accuracy. If you weren't looking up, you might have sworn Mahomes was still on the mic.
Then came the punchline. Kelce grinned and said, "He had that one coming for telling everyone I didn't know where Brazil was." That crack had the room rolling with laughter, and it wasn't long before the clip took off online.
The timing couldn't have been better. The Chiefs kick off their 2025 season tonight, September 5, against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil, and fans now have a little extra reason to tune in.
Travis Kelce's Impressive Career
At 35, Kelce doesn't need impressions to keep people talking. He's a ten-time Pro Bowler, a three-time Super Bowl champ, and ranks in the top 3 of all-time in receiving yards among tight ends. His connection with Mahomes has been the foundation of Kansas City's offense for years, and that's not changing anytime soon.
Off the field, he has become a household name in other arenas. He's hosted "Saturday Night Live," built a massive following with his brother Jason on their "New Heights" podcast, and even stepped into film as an executive producer on "My Dead Friend Zoe."
Kelce has admitted the balancing act isn't always easy. Over the summer, he told reporters his side projects may have taken some attention away from football, and he promised to lock back in for the new season.
Only Kelce could mix a wedding proposal, season opener, and a Mahomes impersonation into the last weeks of summer. If nothing else, he's proving that life around him is never dull, as this Super Bowl winner keeps showing us why he's worth watching before, during, and after the whistle.
