Encouraging news at One Buc Palace — to a degree.
So Vita Vea practiced today after sitting out the past two days with a mysterious foot injury.
Asked about Vea after practice, head coach Todd Bowles fueled the foot mystery. Bowles described Vea’s situation as “something he woke up with.”
Damn, doesn’t that kind of thing happen after one turns 55?
Bowles said Vea “had a good practice” and his arrow is pointing up for Sunday. “He’s looking promising. He’s trending the right way,” Bowles said.
The Bucs will face a Falcons team Sunday that is a run-first unit with a strong offensive line and a top-5 running back, Bijan Robinson. Vea on the field certainly would be a huge bonus. Joe expects Vea to play. What his total snap count will be — and how a foot issue might affect him long term — is another story.
Joe would have slept easier tonight of Bowles said Vea was in great shape and his rest was just precautionary.
