Amorim cannot ignore: Championship club name Man United loanee 'Player of the Month'

Manchester United loanee Radek Vitek has enjoyed a stunning start to his life in the Championship.

Vitek signed a new contract with United in July before sealing a season-long loan switch to Bristol City.

The 21-year-old has been named Bristol City’s Player of the Month for August.

The Czech Republic youth international has featured four times so far, conceding only four goals and keeping one clean sheet.

He scooped the Man of the Match award after a superb display against Charlton.

His standout moment arrived when he pulled off a miraculous stop, somehow clawing the ball back to prevent what looked like a certain George Tanner own goal.

That last-gasp intervention proved priceless, allowing Bristol City to snatch a point.

His performance against Hull City caught the eye again when he made a ‘frankly ridiculous’ save to secure three points for his side.

When Oli McBurnie’s powerful header looked destined for the net, the young keeper produced a stunning one-handed stop to flick the ball away just before it crossed the line.

Standing at an imposing 6ft 6in, Vitek’s towering presence gives him a natural edge in aerial duels and shot-stopping situations.

His save percentage stands at an impressive 80%, even eclipsing that of United’s latest summer signing Senne Lammens (77% in the league last term).

He has made eight high claims and has stepped up seven times as a sweeper-keeper.

There is little doubt the youngster has a big future ahead of him, and United would be wise to keep him firmly in their long-term plans.

He could easily be drafted into the first-team setup next season to compete directly with Lammens for the spot between the sticks.

Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir have made several errors over the last 24 months, and the time has come to show them the door.
