The NBA has informed its franchises that the 2026-27 salary cap is now projected to be $166 million, up from a previous estimate of $165 million. NBA writer Jake Fisher [relayed the announcement](https://x.com/jakelfischer/status/1964058648977506331?s=12) via X today. The number rises from $154.65 million for the 2025-26 season.
The Portland Trail Blazers are already committed to $129 million in active cap salaries for 2026-27. That number does not include possible contract negotiations with current roster members Shaedon Sharpe, Matisse Thybulle, Robert Williams III, Rayan Rupert, and Duop Reath. Nor does it include any potential draft picks incoming for the 2026 season.
Sharpe alone will be due, at minimum, a qualifying offer of $11.3 million after his fourth NBA season. He will represent a $25.2 million cap hold until his contract situation is resolved. Between that and cap holds for the minimum number of roster spaces, Portland’s actual cap space will be negligible to nonexistent unless their roster situation evolves in the coming year.
