On September 6, Colorado Buffaloes’ HC Deion Sanders took to his Instagram to share some wise words. This comes just after news broke about his son,Shedeur Sanders’ future with the Cleveland Browns. Posting an image, Deion wrote that joy, love, and forgiveness must start within.
“We can’t spread Joy if we don’t have Joy in us. We can’t show Love if we don’t have Love in us. We can’t be forgiving if we 1st hadn’t forgiven ourselves. The point I’m trying to make is “YOU 1st! Whatever it is you’re seeking trying giving & showing it 1st. #CoachPrime”
He then added in the caption:
“You 1st Baby! The Bible says ‘Give and it shall be Given unto u’. #CoachPrime.”
PerESPN insider Daniel Oyefusi, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam “absolutely” wants to see rookie QBs Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders play this season. Haslam’s unusually direct comment came after Cleveland traded Kenny Pickett to the Las Vegas Raiders. This opens a much clearer pathway to assess the two young passers ahead of the 2026 draft.
Cleveland’s QB room has been reshuffled around 40-year-old Joe Flacco, who, right now, is not viewed as the long-term answer. According to the ESPN insider, Gabriel has been named the immediate backup following the Pickett trade. Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.comreported that Shedeur Sanders will get his chance later in the season once he’s developed within the system.
Gabriel enters as a Heisman finalist. Sanders arrived as a high-profile fifth-round pick. Both signal callers are now positioned for live NFL reps should Flacco falter.
Is Deion Sanders’ son, Shedeur Sanders, going to start for the Cleveland Browns?

Head coach Kevin Stefanski has finalized his QB depth chart for Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals. And, rookie Shedeur Sanders will not start. The Sept. 6 update confirms Deion Sanders’ son at No. 3 on the chart, behind veteran Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Stefanski stressed that Flacco remains his choice to open the season after a full spring and training camp with the club.
“He’s done a really nice job to date. He can still move. He’s had a lot of work with us going back to the spring and training camp. A lot of work here. So, I think 2023 was a very different situation in terms of when he got to the team.”
Shedeur Sanders, a fifth-round pick, signed a four-year, $4.6M contract, averaging about $1.15M per season. For now, though, he’ll only be seeing action in an emergency role while continuing to develop behind Flacco and Gabriel.
