Browns Legend Sends Scathing Message to Johnny Manziel

When the Cleveland Browns originally drafted quarterback Johnny Manziel with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, he was expected to be a long-term franchise quarterback. Obviously, as all fans know, that did not turn out to be the case.

Instead, Manziel quickly ended up being a bust.

Manziel has not played in the NFL since the 2015 season. He played in just 14 career games, completing 57 percent of his pass attempts for 1,675 yards, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions, while also running for 259 yards and a score.

Recently, the former Browns' quarterback has been in the news for taking shots at the Cleveland franchise. He went as far as to say that he wished the Browns would go "winless" every year.

Those comments have not sat well with team legend Joe Thomas.

Thomas decided to make his feelings about Manziel known. During a call to the "Ken Carman Show," Thomas ripped into the former Cleveland quarterback.

"He is very delusional about whose fault it is. He was not able to be successful because he did it to himself. He was not mature, and he was not professional," Thomas said.

There are very few names in recent NFL Draft history that come up quicker when talking about a bust than Manziel. During his college career with the Texas A&M Aggies, he was must-watch football. Many felt that superstardom was in his future.

At Texas A&M, Manziel threw for 7,820 yards, 63 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions in two years and completed 68.9 percent of his passes. He also ran for 2,169 yards and scored another 30 touchdowns on the ground.

Even though things didn't pan out for him in the NFL with the Browns, it's a shame to see the relationship so bad. Thomas is completely right with his response. Manziel truly has no reason to be so upset with Cleveland after the way he handled himself.

All of that being said, Manziel is certainly entitled to his opinion. As for the Browns, they are still looking to find a long-term quarterback, with both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders being potential options as rookies entering their respective rookie seasons.

Don't expect this to be the final time that Manziel's name is heard when talking to the Browns. He has made it clear that he's not a fan of the team and will likely continue being open with his opinions.
