This weekend, basketball legend Carmelo Anthony will earn one more honor following the conclusion of his NBA career by being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
The news that Anthony would be inducted broke earlier this year, but after this weekend, he will officially become a Hall of Famer and join many of the greatest players to ever step onto a basketball court.
Ahead of his induction, the 10-time All-Star received a personal message from his son, Kiyan, who spoke about the impact he has made on him both on and off the court.
“Yo, Pops, it’s Kiy. You’ve been a Hall of Famer to me my whole life. All of that hard work, every day, you grinding, nobody seeing you work as hard as you do, everybody take you for granted, it doesn’t go unnoticed. I’ve seen everything, and I appreciate you for paving the way for me, taking on this next legacy. I know I’m in good hands, because you gonna be right by my side,” Anthony said ahead of his father’s Hall of Fame induction. “I just want to tell you how proud I am. Seeing you getting inducted into the Hall of Fame means everything to me. I appreciate you for everything, so keep going and doing better. Love you, pops.”

Carmelo Anthony Made an Impact During His Basketball Career
Anthony played 19 NBA seasons with numerous teams, though he is best known for his time with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks.
During his career, Anthony was a 10-time All-Star, a six-time All-NBA selection, a one-time scoring champion, and he was regularly an MVP candidate. However, a lot of his success also goes beyond his time in the NBA.
The 6-foot-7 forward was also a fantastic collegiate and Olympic athlete. In his only year at Syracuse, Anthony established himself as one of the best basketball players in the world and led the school to a national championship. Additionally, he also earned four Olympic medals, including three gold medals in 2008, 2012, and 2016.
At his peak, Anthony was a dominant offensive player and was one of the greatest scorers the game had ever seen. He was a fantastic player in each level of the sport, and it is only fitting that he becomes immortalized as a member of the Hall of Fame.
