Free agent wide receiver is begging the Chiefs to sign him after Week 1

The Kansas City Chiefs have been hampered by underwhelming wide receiver play ever since the departure of Tyreek Hill. This offseason has been no different, as the team is begging for someone to step up out wide, especially with Rashee Rice suspended for the first six games of the season.

Second-year wideout Xavier Worthy was the obvious player who needed to make a major leap in 2025 if the Chiefs' offense wanted to be more explosive. Unfortunately, he suffered a shoulder injury just three plays into Friday's season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers and did not return.

While the extent of Worthy's injury is currently unknown, Hollywood Brown also looked like a shell of himself against the Chargers on Friday evening. Another addition at wide receiver is surely in order, and one veteran clearly wants Andy Reid and Co. to sign him.

Allen Robinson II makes it known to Chiefs that he is available

After Worthy's injury on Friday evening, 11-year NFL veteran receiver Allen Robinson sent the following message to the Kansas City Chiefs on social media, and he is practically begging to be signed.

"No 🧢, chiefs I’m a free agent, I swear I could help yall," Robinson wrote.

Robinson's production has certainly tapered off since his Pro Bowl days in the mid-2010s, and he caught just three passes for 30 yards in 12 games with the Detroit Lions last year. But, at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, he could provide a big target for Patrick Mahomes on the outside.

There are definitely younger options available like Kendrick Bourne, or more productive veterans like Tyler Boyd who are still on the free agent market. But it sounds like Robinson may be available at the drop of a hat if Kansas City needs him.

Ideally, Worthy's injury is fairly moderate, and Jalen Royals can recover quickly from injury as well. That way, the offense can really hit the ground running when Rice returns from his six-game suspension. If not, it'll be up to Juju Smith-Schuster and Tyquan Thornton to fill the void.

Robinson's social media message to the Chiefs is a bit endearing, as it is good to know that free agents see Kansas City as a desirable destination. However, a player over the hill like Robinson believing that he can help the Chiefs' offense is an indictment of the current wide receiver room.
