**The 2025/26 [Premier League](https://essential.football/most-expensive-premier-league-transfer-signings-of-all-time/) season is underway. Plenty of midfielders have hit the ground running – but who will be the highest scoring midfielder at the end of the season? Steven Gerrard was often the highest PL midfielder in his day but who will claim the crown this season?**
We’ll be counting wingers as midfielders in this list – however, wingers who sometimes play as an out-and-out striker will not be considered. For example, while Cody Gakpo has the potential to make this list, his frequent deputisation as a striker disqualifies him.
Following the tumultuous departure of Alexander Isak in the [summer transfer window](https://essential.football/liverpool-transfer-window-review/), Newcastle could find themselves short of goals this season. Fortunately, the lightning-quick Anthony Elanga should be able to help out on this front.
While he has yet to open his account for the season, his excellent runs on and off the ball indicate that this will not be the case for long.
Jack Grealish is looking like an inspired signing by Everton. He seems to be back to his best, giving even the most stouthearted of defenders night terrors.
So far this season, Grealish has been a creative spark for Everton, netting himself an impressive four assists so far. Crucially, however, he hasnt’t scored any goals – though these will surely come with time.
Ismailia Sarr was a bright spark for Crystal Palace last season. He is proving to be no one-season wonder either, as he already had two goals to his name in the current campaign.
Sadly, Sarr is currently out of action with a thigh injury. Due to this, we can’t put him any higher in our list – expect him to cause havoc once again when he has a clean bill of health.
