All the early injury news surrounding Arsenal and Nottingham Forest as the Premier League clash comes into view.
Arsenal return to action next Saturday when they face Nottingham Forest in a potentially tricky home clash at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners suffered their first defeat of the season last time out when they narrowly lost to likely title rivals Liverpool.
There is plenty of time for Mikel Arteta’s men to make up that lost ground, though, and here they face a Forest side who were thrashed by West Ham at home last time out in what was a surprising result indeed.
Now that we are within a week of the game, we have rounded up the latest injury news surrounding both teams.
Nicolas Dominguez - Out
Dominguez faces a long time on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury. He required on the surgery after picking up the injury in May.
William Saliba - Doubt
Saliba limped off early on against Liverpool, and Arteta confirmed after the game: “He twisted his ankle during the warm-up, and he came in and he said he believed that he could carry on and play, but straight away in the first two actions. I could see that he couldn't cope, and we had to get him out, unfortunately.” There is no word on whether Saliba will miss this one, but he will at the very east be a doubt.
Bukayo Saka - Out
Saka is going to be out until late September, so he will miss this one. Arteta confirmed recently: “Bukayo is doing better, but he will be out for a few weeks, unfortunately. No surgery, it's not as bad as the previous one. Very unfortunate to pick it up because it’s on the other side.”
Martin Odegaard - Fit
Odegaard was only fit for the bench last time out, but he should be back to full fitness by the time this game rolls around, barring any setbacks.
Ben White - Fit
Arteta said before the Liverpool game: “Again, tomorrow we have another day, let's see how they evolve, and there’s a chance to keep them involved in the game.” White did not make it back in time, but he should be back after the break with some much-needed recovery time.
Kai Havertz - Out
Havertz is now going to be out until late November due to surgery on his knee issue. Arteta said before the Liverpool game: “Obviously, we lose another big player for many, many weeks, but it was the right thing to do. The most important thing is - when he gets back - he is in good condition.”
Christian Norgaard - Fit
Norgaard also missed out on the Liverpool game. Arteta said before that one: “Again, tomorrow we have another day, let's see how they evolve, and there’s a chance to keep them involved in the game.” Norgaard should be back after the break.
Gabriel Jesus - Out
Jesus remains out long-term after suffering a ruptured ACL in January. Arteta has said recently: “Gabi is doing super well. I think he looks in a really good place, obviously it’s a massive injury and we need to come from that in a really strong way, but certainly he’s in the right place and with very strong strides I think.”
