What Packers’ intriguing Friday update ahead of Week 1 Lions game means for Micah Parsons

Micah Parsons is soon going to make his Green Bay Packers debut, but it remains to be seen whether that takes place this coming Sunday, when theDetroit Lions come for a visitat Lambeau Field.

Parsons, whom Green Bay acquired via a trade with the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks (2026 and 2027), is still dealing with a back issue, and the Packers could take extra precautions in their approach on the availability of their shiny new defensive weapon.

“It’s a process of getting ready for football,” Parsons said on Thursday, perWes Hodkiewicz of Green Bay’s official website. “Obviously, going through the tightness, the soreness, but I just got plenty of faith that this great training staff and the coaches are slowly getting me the plays and getting me things that I need if we decide to give me the green light out there.

On Friday, Green Bayreleased its latest injury reportfor the meeting with the Lions, with Parsons among the many given a questionable tag.

While that technically means there’s no certainty that the former Penn State Nittany Lions star pass rusher plays this Sunday, the fact that he’s practiced even in a limited capacity in each of the last three days is a good sign for Green Bay.

Other Packers players who are questionable for the Lions game are defensive backs Zayne Anderson, Nate Hobbs, wide receivers Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks and Savion Williams and defensive end Barryn Sorrell.

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is shown during the first quarter of their preseason game Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Green Bay Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks 20-7.
