Man Utd loanee cements blazing hot start at club with latest honour

Radek Vitek has been the biggest success story among Man Utd loanees to start the season, and he’s now cemented that blazing hot start with an award.

Man Utd have high hopes for Radek Vitek after his brilliant loan spell at BW Linz last season, so a loan at the Championship level was the best step.

Vitek joined Bristol City and immediately became their first-choice goalkeeper, saving a penalty on his unofficial debut.

He has gone from strength to strength since then, and recently cemented his perfect start to the loan spell with an award.

Radek Vitek awarded after hot start at Bristol City

Vitek’s exploits at Bristol City have been noticeable not just because it’s his first loan spell in the Championship, but also because United’s own goalkeeping troubles have been in focus.

Bristol fans are already in love with Vitek, and the player is returning that favour with one brilliant performance after another.

He has been the player of the match in two of the four games so far at Bristol, with his array of breathtaking saves against Hull City in the 4-2 win, grabbing the headlines as well.

The Man Utd loanee has now been recognised for his efforts in August by winning the club’s Player of the Month award.

It cements his start to life at Bristol City, which he will hope to continue after the international break. Their next game, coincidentally, will be against Harry Amass’ Sheffield Wednesday on September 13.

Vitek becoming impossible to ignore for Man Utd

The signs of a breakout with Vitek were there last season when he shone in an unfamiliar Austrian league at an underdog team.

However, the eyes on the Championship are much more, and if he keeps succeeding at Bristol City, then it becomes easier to envision his jump to Old Trafford.

United have already made a mistake with Dean Henderson, and with Vitek’s start to life at Bristol City, he’s on the same breakout path.

The club need to ensure that the Henderson mistake is not repeated with Vitek, especially because there’s no undroppable club legend in the first XI now.

Henderson had David de Gea, while Vitek, at best, will have a breakout Senne Lammens to contend with next season for the No. 1 spot.

The ideal scenario will be for Bristol City to get promoted and Vitek gets a season of Premier League experience, but if that doesn’t happen, United need to recognise the goalkeeper’s efforts and give him a fair shot at becoming the club’s No. 1.
