Seven Man United players are set to play this weekend amid the international break for the first team.

The international break is a frustrating time for football fans in the Premier League, especially when it comes so soon in the season, however, it does prove to be very useful for the clubs themselves.

Man United loaned eight players out to League One and League Two clubs in the summer, and they are all able to play this weekend as the international break does not apply to the third and fourth tiers in England. But who are they, and how are they getting on away from Old Trafford?

League One loanees

There are three Man United players on loan at League One clubs, all hoping to make the step up to the Championship. Firstly, midfielder Daniel Gore is back at Rotherham United after he was on loan there for the back end of last season.

The 20-year-old has already made two league appearances for Rotherham, including a start in their 2-2 draw against Wigan late on in August. Manager Matt Hamshaw has been playing Gore as an attacking midfielder, and he could be in line to start again this weekend when the Millers play Exeter City at 3 pm on Saturday.

Secondly, we have striker Ethan Wheatley, who joined Northampton Town on a season-long loan over the summer. He has started in every League One game so far for the Cobblers and managed to score in their 2-0 win against Exeter last month. They’ve won their last two games, but won’t be playing this weekend, as their game against Reading has been postponed. But Wheatley is one to keep an eye on.

Midfielder Jack Moorhouse moved to Leyton Orient on loan, and he scored in their last game in the Football League Trophy. He has made five league appearances so far and looks to be a regular for Orient this season. The 19-year-old should be in line to start for their game against Port Vale at 3 pm on Saturday.

League Two loanees

There are five Man United players in League Two this season, with perhaps the most notable being 21-year-old striker Joe Hugill, who is on loan at Barnet. He has already made two league appearances this season, and could get the chance to start against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday at 3pm.

On the other side of that same game will be 19-year-old goalkeeper Elyh Harrison, who has started four out of a possible six League Two games for Shrewsbury this season. He is the replacement for Toby Savin, who joined Wigan Athletic during the transfer window. Harrison will be trying to keep Hugill from scoring on Saturday.

Notts County-loaned centre-back Sonny Aljofree has impressed so far, scoring his first goal for the club in August in a 4-1 win against Shrewsbury. He has played in six League Two games so far this season, and is expected to feature against Fleetwood Town at 3pm on Saturday.

Also in that game will be winger Ethan Ennis, who is on loan at Fleetwood. So far, the 20-year-old has made just one appearance, in their last game against Accrington Stanley in the Football League Trophy. He scored after 75 minutes and could have earned himself a place against Notts County.

Finally, we have right-back Habeeb Ogunneye, who is on loan at Newport County. The 18-year-old has made five League Two appearances so far this season, and is becoming a first-team regular for David Hughes’ side. He is set to feature in their next game against Bristol Rovers in the early kick-off at 12.30 pm on Saturday.
