According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Spurs’ No. 2 pick underwent surgery Friday to repair a partially torn ligament in his left thumb, which he injured during a workout on Wednesday.

Despite the surgery, the hope is that Harper will be ready for the season opener on October 22 in Dallas against the Mavericks and 2025 No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg.

The son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, Dylan brings NBA pedigree and a complete two-way skill set, and he is viewed as a potential star in the league.

The left-handed guard averaged 19.4 points, 4.0 assists, and 1.4 steals during his one season at Rutgers.
