Beşiktaş make Trossard bid

Super Lig side Beşiktaş have made a ₤22 million bid to sign Leandro Trossard from Arsenal.

Although the transfer window is now closed in most of Europe, it remains open in Turkey until the 12th September.

The Belgian has not featured much so far this season, in part because of injury, but he has been awarded a new contract, which has seen his terms improved but not the length of his deal, which is due to expire in 2026, although there may be an option of another year.

Whilst this may be a way to recoup some of the money that Arsenal spent during the summer, letting the Belgian leave now would mean they could not get a replacement until January.

And although there is now Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke who could play in his position, the injuries to Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka, and the continued poor form of Gabriel Martinelli would, once again, leave the Gunners light of options in attacking areas.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
