‘Problems during medical’ – Player brings Wolves injury with him after deadline transfer

Fábio Silva waited until the end of the window to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers for Borussia Dortmund on a permanent transfer and then suffered an injury setback.

The latest rumours of the striker’s absence for an extended period haven’t gone down well with the German club’s supporters, and Sky Deutschland, after relaying it, provide their own take and explain why BVB aren’t too concerned.

They say Silva brought the ‘adductor problem’ with him from Wolves and the Bundesliga club ‘discovered this immediately’ during his medical tests. They seem to have been aware of this as Sky say ‘no secrets were made about the problems during the medical’.

Despite noticing this, Borussia Dortmund still went ahead and completed his signing.

Silva is set to be out of action for three to four weeks and Niko Kovač’s side want to give the Portugal international sufficient time so that he fully recovers from the setback.

It’s claimed BVB aren’t panicking and there are several reasons why they paid €22.5m to Wolves to acquire his signature. They have big hopes for the 23-year-old, especially in the long-term.

Silva is currently behind Serhou Guirassy and Maximilian Beier, but Borussia Dortmund invested on him because of his potential.

BVB see the former Wolves man as a successor to Guirassy, especially if the latter were to leave next summer. However, his fitness can be a concern for him to fill in that big role at the German club.
