Frenkie de Jong returned to Barcelona on Friday after leaving the Netherlands national team camp due to a minor injury.
Starting against Poland in their World Cup qualifier, the 28-year-old midfielder played for around 80 minutes before having to be withdrawn due to discomfort in his glutes.
Following that, the Oranje confirmed that he was not fit enough to play against Lithuania and released him from the squad.
De Jong to be tested on Monday
Now, providing an update on the matter, Mundo Deportivo reports that, at Barcelona, De Jong is under close observation. The first medical reports, sent on Friday evening by the Netherlands team doctor, suggested that the injury is not serious.
The midfielder visited the Ciutat Esportiva training ground this morning to begin treatment, but he has not yet undergone any medical examinations.

Barcelona do not plan to carry out tests today. As such, De Jong will undergo a medical examination on Monday, at which point the doctors will assess whether the injury allows for an immediate return or if he will miss the La Liga match against Valencia on 14 September.
Manager Hansi Flick is closely monitoring the situation, as he already faces absences in both midfield and defence.
Indeed, Gavi is sidelined with a knee knock, while Alejandro Balde is a confirmed absentee against Valencia due to a thigh injury. Lamine Yamal, too, suffered from back discomfort while with Spain, although the issue is not serious.
As for De Jong, the reports from the Netherlands medical staff generate optimism as they describe the injury as a minor one. But a clearer picture should emerge on Monday.
