Manchester United summer signing Bryan Mbeumo has wasted no time in making his mark, scooping his first major award at Old Trafford.
Mbeumo has been named United’s Player of the Month for August.
United fans voted the 26-year-old as the winner with 54% of the votes, ahead of Leny Yoro (29%) and Matthijs de Ligt (17%).
The Cameroon international also won the Goal of the Month award for his second United goal in the 3-2 Premier League victory over Burnley.
Mbeumo is already impressing supporters with his performances since arriving from Brentford in a deal worth around £70 million.
He has started all three league games, while also making an impact off the bench in the Carabao Cup clash against Grimsby.
He scored his maiden goal for the club against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round.
He also emphatically converted from the spot in the penalty shootout but struck the bar in sudden death.
Rather than letting the setback affect him, Mbeumo responded with even more intensity, firing home against Burnley to give United a crucial 2-1 lead.
He also created five chances and had nine touches in the Clarets’ box.
Amorim described him as “impressive” and praised his quality in stretching the opposition’s defence.
The 26-year-old also shone for Cameroon in their 3-0 victory over Eswatini.
He forced an own goal and provided the assist for his side’s second goal.
Expectations among United supporters are very high for Mbeumo, considering he has rich experience in the English top flight.
