Talks on: Friedkin plotting to keep £6.5m-a-year Everton star "until the end of his career"

Everton are planning to keep hold of one of their most important players "until the end of his career", in a promising new update regarding his future.

Grealish delighted to be at Everton

The Blues have made an encouraging start to the new Premier League season, winning two of their opening three matches, including the first game at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Jack Grealish has made an instant impression for Everton, registering four assists in just three appearances, and he has spoken of his happiness at the club, following his summer loan move from Manchester City.

“Do you know what? And I’m not just saying this, when I had my first chat with the manager, I just knew I wanted to come here. He was one of the reasons, probably the main reason. He wants me to be in the final third, be creative and to have no fear like I’ve shown before.

"You know, sometimes you will lose the ball and miss chances but you need to have that side where you can go and play that killer pass and that end product - that’s the aim. If I do that, I feel like I can really help the Club. After speaking to [the manager], I said to my agent, ‘From now on, I don’t want to go anywhere else - if we can do it, I want to play for Everton'".

Grealish's move to Everton could become permanent if he impresses enough this season, and now a new update has emerged regarding another key man for the Blues.

Everton want "fantastic" ace to stay until he retires

According to journalist Dominic King on X, Everton and The Friedkin Group want Jordan Pickford to stay at the club until he retires, with talks underway over an extension.

Keeping the £6.5m-a-year Pickford is of the utmost importance for the Blues, with England's No.1 arguably becoming the most consistent goalkeeper at the club since Neville Southall.

The 31-year-old has now racked up 322 appearances for Everton, and still has plenty of years left in him, while former teammate Conor Coady has spoken glowingly about him in the past.

"He gets a lot of criticism but he is just fantastic. I love everything about his process because he sticks to it after doing his homework and putting it on his bottle. That is why he comes up trumps and saves penalties. "It requires research to be a top goalkeeper and penalty-saver and he does all of that."

A new deal is a must for Pickford, who still has enough time left in his career to improve further, and tying him down now makes complete sense for Everton, ensuring his current contract that expires in 2027 doesn't get too close to ticking down.
