Everton giving Jordan Pickford a new contract will be a very good decision and Mark Schwarzer believes he is only getting better.

It’s come to light that Everton will hand Pickford a new deal, as with two years left on his current contract, David Moyes wants the goalkeeper to see out his career with the club.

Everton.News revealed that Pickford was happy to sign a new deal, as the Everton shot stopper has been the ever-consistent force in the squad.

Now approaching ten years on Merseyside, the 31-year-old is only just getting started, as Pickford can still get Champions League with Everton.

But it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the England international, and Schwarzer has revealed what he’s ‘overcome’.

The Toffees’ number one has made it clear he loves the club, and it almost seemed written in the stars that he would finish his career at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Pickford will receive a ‘huge increase’ in wages, and it’s hard to argue that he hasn’t deserved it.

But it was never this easy for the keeper, and legendary Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has pointed out that Pickford has finally managed the best of both worlds.

“I think when you look at his club path, he’s certainly got better over the last couple of seasons,” Schwarzer said to Sky Sports.

“There was a period of time, for about 18 months, where he was playing exceptionally well for England, but struggled for Everton.

“I think that, he’s overcome – He’s very, very good and is a big reason why Everton avoided relegation.”

“He’s one of the most in-form keepers in the league.”

In these opening three games though, Pickford has saved a penalty and kept a clean sheet, whilst also preventing 0.77 goals, showing how pivotal he truly is.
