Northern Ireland legend Jimmy Nicholl has waxed lyrical about Crystal Palace midfielder Justin Devenny describing him as someone whoseleitmotiv is hard graft.
Devenny, who featured as a left wing-back for Northern Ireland in the 3-1 win in Luxembourg, converted the winning penalty in the Community Shield final last month.
Ex-Man United right-back Nicholl represented Northern Ireland at the 1982 and 1986 FIFA World Cups and later managed Millwall.
Asked by Capital Football how far the multifunctional Eagle can go in his burgeoning career, Nicholl said: "It’s entirely up to himself. He’s playing at a good level at Crystal Palace, he’s playing in the English Premier League and he’s trying to make his mark in the Northern Ireland team.
"He’s doing really well, he’s a good player with lots of talent.
"It’s a strange position for him left wing-back but the more he plays there the more he becomes accustomed to it.
"He works hard in his game, is very conscientious and wants to learn…”
